Chakras

The word chakra is Sanskrit for wheel or vortex and refers to the seven energy centres within the body.  It is pronounced chuhkra and is known as the wheel of life.  Sanskrit is the classical language of India and originates from the 10th century.

Chakras receive and express life force energy called prana and their function is to spin and draw in this energy to keep the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical health of the body in balance.  The seven chakras are described as being aligned in a column from the base of the spine to the top of the head and each of the chakras correlates to a major nerve ganglia branching from the spinal column.

It is essential to keep the chakras healthy, free from blockages so having your chakras balanced is important as it opens and balances the chakras allowing your life energy to flow naturally.
